摘要 | In this paper, the coalescence behavior of water droplets in silicone oil and poly (methylhydrosiloxane) with different viscosity was studied by means of high-speed microscopy. The results show that the high viscosity results in the obscuration of the inertial force, which has a great influence on the dynamic behavior of droplets. In the approaching stage, the velocity and acceleration of the droplets were smaller, and the time of acceleration was delayed. In the contacting stage, the critical electric field strength was smaller. When the strength was higher than the critical electric field strength, there was no phenomenon of coalescence first and then injection in low viscosity oil, but no coalescence after the rebound. In the mixing stage, the growth rate of the liquid bridge was smaller. In addition, the stretching oscillation of the near end interface was considered to be the main reason for the oscillation of approaching velocity. Furthermore, the high transmittance of poly (methylhydrosiloxane) and the low-speed settling characteristics of the droplets in poly (methylhydrosiloxane) were verified by the highspeed camera experiment, which strongly indicate that it can be used as an ideal continuous phase for the experimental study of water droplet dynamics. |
