Displacement response analysis of RC frame with BRBs considering second earthquake excitation

摘要In this paper, pushover analyses as well as nonlinear time-history analyses for a multi-story RC frame and three buckling-restrained braces frames were conducted. The displacement responses under the first earthquake and the second earthquake excitation were compared based on the peak inter-story drift ratio and residual drift ratio. The results show that increasing appropriately BRBs can improve the lateral stiffness, bearing capacity and ductility of RC frames. When the lateral stiffness ratio of RC frames with BRBs is 0.5, the peak inter-story drift ratio and residual drift ratio of RC frame can be reduced by up to 48% and 70%, respectively. The design for increasing the layout of BRBs simply is not the effective way of reducing residual drift ratio, it is more likely to raise residual drift ratio. The strength of the second earthquake has a great influence on the peak inter-story drift ratio of RC frames with BRBs. However, the strength of the second earthquake has no apparent effect on residual drift ratio, but increases the uncertainty of residual drift ratio. © 2015, Science Press. All right reserved.
