Preliminary research on seismic behavior of low-rise light-weight residential buildings with composite wall

摘要It is key issue to evaluate the seismic performance of the cold-formed thin-walled steel framing system of low-rise residential buildings whether or not the composite walls are considered during the seismic analysis. The composite wall system usually consists of the cold-formed thin-walled steel members and composite walls. The numerical model was developed to perform elastic and elastic-plastic dynamic time history analysis of the building system of low-rise residential buildings using ANSYS, respectively. The geometrical and material nonlinear of the cold-formed thin-walled steel members and OSB composite walls were considered. Elastic dynamic time history analysis was performed under frequent earthquake, and Elastic-plastic dynamic time history analysis was performed under rare earthquake, respectively. It was important for the stiffness, bearing capacity and seismic performance of the structural system whether or not the composite walls worked. The stiffness of the building will increase, and the elastic story-drift will decrease evidently because of the composite walls under frequent earthquake. The composite walls are also favorable effectively to improve the stiffness and decrease the elastic-plastic story-drift of the structure.
