Surface effects play an important role in the mechanical response at nanoscale. Based on the surface elasticity theory, the scattering of incident plane shear waves (SH-waves) by a nano-sized arc-shaped hole on a half-plane is analyzed through the wave function expansion method. The analytical solution of the stress field around the arc-shaped hole is obtained by the orthogonality of trigonometric function. The effects of surface effect, incident angle, and arc depth on the dynamic stress concentration factor around the hole are analyzed by numerical simulation.
