Low-cycle reversed loading tests on joints of H-style steel beam-square steel tubular column filled with concrete with opening holes at beam flanges and web

摘要In order to study the effect of opening holes at beam flanges and beam web on the failure mode of joints of H-style steel beam-square steel tubular column filled with concrete, low cyclic reversed loading tests were performed on six joints including one conventional joint and five joints with opening holes at beam flanges and beam web. The experimental results indicate that the conventional joint of H-style steel beam-square steel tubular column filled with concrete fractures at beam flanges butt weld. The plastic rotation doesn't meet the requirement of the interim guidelines FEMA. The stress concentration at beam flange butt weld of joints of H-style steel beam-square steel tubular column filled with concrete is remarkably mitigated by means of opening holes at beam flanges and beam web. The plastic hinge is formed at reduced beam section, and the plastic rotation of the joints reaches at 0.03 rad and do meet the requirement of the interim guidelines of FEMA. The hysteresis loops keep steadily and the bearing capacity of the joints with opening holes at beam flanges and beam web is equal to that of conventional joint. For the joint with poor welding between the column walls and the stiffened ribs at panel zone, convex deformation is formed at the column walls and rupture is observed at the weld between column walls. The ductility and the bearing capacity of these joints are reduced obviously.
