Functionally graded materials (FGMs) have been regarded as one of the advanced inhomogeneous composite materials, usually made from metal and ceramic, taking advantage of the merits of constituent materials adequately. By gradually varying the volume fraction of the constituent materials, FGMs possesses the gradient in properties, which eliminates the mismatch of mechanical properties induced by the interface. Conical shell is one of elastic thin shell widely used in engineering and often served in poor environment such as large temperature gradients, strong dynamic loads. FGMs have found extensive applications in these structures duo to its excellent performance. So, investigations on the mechanical response of FGM conical shell under various combinations of mechanical and thermal loading conditions are prime importance in both theoretical and practical aspects.
