摘要 | The FLUENT was used to compute the aerodynamic performance for the NREL 5 MW horizontal axis wind turbine with and without L tip vane. Through comparative analysis the blade surface pressure and the flow field, we could find that the L tip vane had greater influence on the pressure distribution of the blade tip, which making bigger pressure difference between the blade pressure side and the suction side. Because of the increasing of the pressure difference, the lift-to-drag ratio of blade had been increased, which leading to the enhancement of blade torque and the output power of wind turbine. During the simulation, the power of the blade and L tip vane was monitored separately. The results showed that the improvement of the wind turbine power was caused by the increase of the blade local pressure difference when the L tip vane rather than the increase of the radius of rotor diameter. In particular, it was found that L tip vane with installation Angle 45° and the elongation of 2 meters could improve wind-power utilization coefficient signficantly. © 2019, Science Press.
